Magic Log at Adonara Island off the east coast of Flores is one of the better known dive sites in this area. Here divers can find frogfish, leaf fish, ribbon eels, mimic octopus and much more. Wonderpu's octopuses have been seen here, as has the very rare weedy scorpion fish (Rhinopias).
Lambata, formerly known as Lomblen island, is the largest island of the Solor Archipelago. This area is common with schools of fusilier and parrot fish. Huge angelfish are often seen here. Closer to the shore one might find pygmy seahorses. Nearby is the Lamalera Village where local villagers fish for whales in a tiny wooden boat during the whale season.
Babi Island - is outside of the sheltered bay and on the way one can spot dolphins, whales, even dugongs. Babi island has shallow coral gardens all around the island dropping to steep walls. The wall drops down to 50 metres and is covered with soft corals and large gorgonian sea fans. Only in the south there is a slope instead of walls. Snappers, angelfish, parrotfish and damselfish all occupy the slopes. Several species of moray eels can be found as well as ribbon eels. Currents can be strong making this a drift dive.
House Reef - The house reef of Maumere are a critter playground with mimic octopus, frogfish and leaf fish among the stars of the show.
Wai Terang - Wai Terang is a Japanese World War II freighter lying on its side from a depth of 25 m up to about 12 metres. Coral growth on the wreck has improved over the years, and it now plays home to many fish and other marine creatures. Visibility can be poor.
Pangah Balang - is a good place to see some bigger fish like reef sharks and eagle rays. A slopping wall drop to around 30 metres and is covered with soft corals and gorgonian sea fans. The shallower parts of the reef are home to all manners of other critters such as mantis shrimp, pygmy seahorses and leaf fish. Very large bumphead fish can also be seen here.
