Dive site name : Anemone Reef

Anemone Reef or Hin Jom is a single large rock covered with anemones, especially green, blue or purple. Dropping to a depth of around 25 meters this rock outcrop derives its name from the numerous anemones that cover the top. Most dive starts at the base of the pinnacle where you can see sleeping leopard sharks and bamboo sharks. From there you can gradually dive shallower circling around the flat pinnacle. The water temperature is usually around around 26ºC and Visibility often exceeding 30 meters, extending sometimes up to 45 meters.

Anemone reef is a dive site especially beautiful because of its exceptional colorful underwater landscape. Naturalism underwater, fish identification, photography and filming are some of the specialties of diving you should do here and not elsewhere in the region of Phuket. The large number of anemones is the reason why five different species of clownfish inhabit this reef. Other creatures such as anemone crabs, shrimp, white eyed morays, yellow margined morays, and banded sea snakes are found swimming around the rocks. Groups of lion-fish, porcelain-crabs, gorgonians and many other common reef fish can be seen here. Enjoy this fantastic diving point that will provide many encounters with marine life.

They are located in Chalong Bay, just a few miles south of Rawai, and are available for diving all year due to its sheltered position. The island is a marine conservation project, but it's full of resorts, restaurants, bars, water sports and all kinds of boat trips. Diving in Koh Hi is often carried in two white sand beaches in the north of the island, and near some rocky points in the east and west ends. Be careful when going to the surface due to the influx of boats, like jet skis and boats "banana".

Dive site name : Sharks Point

This is a tiny island called Hin Mu Sang situated around 25km east of Phuket. It gets the name as there are nearly always leopard sharks around its base on the sand 20 meters below. It is easy to approach them and many divers were able to touch them on the skin or fins. Below the rocky outcrop that sticks to the surface you will find three large sections of some of the best coral reefs in the region of Phuket. Its western side drops steeply from the surface down to 22 metres deep. While its estern side gradually descents. Nutrient rich currents can be strong here so visiting pelagics are not uncommon. There are brilliant anemones, fantastic sponges , huge gorgonians and many pelagic marking the area. The pinnacle protects different species of moray as fibrillated and yellow stripes.

Dive site name : King Cruiser Wreck

Perfect clear, calm and sunny day with a flat ocean and great visibility, a route that has been travelled hundreds of times before May 4th 1997. Nobody knows how the 85 meter passenger ferry strayed off course in perfect conditions and hit anemone reef tearing a gaping hole in her hull ... welcome to Thailand. We do know that she sank in around 2.5 hours and all 600 passengers aboard were rescued. She now lies upright in 32 meters of water and has evolved into a fantastic natural reef.

Big open passage ways, car deck and bridge area make for easy exploration, take care though as surfaces have become encrusted with coral and barnacles and are extremely sharp. This said the wreck may have disintegrated further since we last dived it so penetration may not be possible. On the upper levels you'll spot lionfish and big schools of fusiliers and around the hulk you may see barracuda and jacks patrolling.

Dive site name : Koh Dork Mai

Koh Doc Mai or flowers Island is a beautiful island of limestone in the center of Ao Phang-Nga, 20 km southeast of Phuket. Its steep cliffs of green top create a fantastic view as you approach this paradise. Despite its name, there are no flowers on the island; people think that the name comes from all the flowers that live under water in the form of hard and soft corals.

There are several dive sites around its shores. The dive sites around this area forms a good wall dive dropping down to 30 meters and can be easily circumnavigated several times during one dive. There are a couple of small caves that may home to different reef critters. At East you will find a hard coral reef with a slope, with some patches of coral, cliffs, rocks and some very cool caves for divers with appropriate training in caves, once entering the island at 15 meters.

The wall are decorated in anemones, sponges and huge gorgonian sea fans. On the wall you will find some lost seahorse-tailed tiger-yellow, morays of whites-eyes, nudibranchs, crocodiles-fish, needle fish and frog-fish. It is a muddy diving point, fantastic to find microscopic creatures in all the cracks. Koh Dork Mai Is a fantastic muck diving spot and this also makes Koh Dork Mai a good place for night dive as well as a favorites for underwater photographers.

Dive site name : Koh Racha Yai

Koh Racha Yai or Big Island is one of your best bet in Phuket region. It is Known for its healthy clear water which attracts beautiful marine lifes. Many species of coral can be spotted here with staghorn predominating in many places. The better diving is off the east coast where good drifts can be done along the hard coral walls.

Marine life is spectacular along the shores. All common reef fish live in huge numbers. The island often attracts some bigger visitors such as barracuda and the odd reef shark as well as the usual array of reef inhabitants. There are several interesting places to dive around Koh Racha Yai including Lucy's Reef where you may come across stonefish and catfish and Marla's Mystery, a wreck that is now home to morays, groupers and lionfish. There are immense soft corals and hard corals, mainly dominated by staghorn corals.

Dive site name : Koh Racha Noi

Little King Island or Koh Racha Noi are the two loosely connected most southern islands about five kilometers south of Koh Racha Yai. Koh Racha Noi is famous for its giant boulders, granite rock formations and rugged underwater landscape. The southern pinnacle offers underwater boulders and scenery similar to that seen in the Similans, often with visibility to match. Its shores are surrounded with deep waters, excellent visibilities, white sand and large numbers of vibrant colorful reef fish. Often strong currents have made this islands famous for its many encounter with pelagic, sharks and manta rays. There are also a couplr of shallower spots around the island for the more inexperienced diver.

Dive site name : West Coast Phuket

West Coast of Phuket offers enough possibilities for diving although they are less spectacular and better suitable for trainees and snorkellers. It is also possible to swim along the west coast of Phuket, although these dive sites are less interesting than their neighbors off the coast. Many of the beaches are tropical paradises, where tourism has become a major source of income. Fantastic Resorts, white sandy beaches, crystal clear waters, a fantastic food and all sorts of water activities.

Some of the best known diving points are around the small island of Koh Pu, 1 km west of the beach of Kata. Near the Bang Tao Beach is an old wreck of an excavator for mining, more specifically tin, covered with hard coral and Andaman fish. A little more off the coast you will find a reef called Amanpuri reef, which has excellent marine life and soft coral formations. The underwater scenery is not very different, because they all offer growth of simple coral, rocky slopes and small shoals of common reef fish. There are nice and cheap dive places to visit if you're in the area, but if you want to dive seriously, we recommend taking part in tours that visit the reefs close to the shore.

Dive site name : Phi Phi Islands

The Phi Phi Islands is one of the most dramatically beautiful locations in the world. The scenery from the surface is absolutely stunning; colossal emerald green monoliths rising straight from the sea and soaring to heights of more than 500 meters. Underwater, these towers shape a rugged, interesting environment for scuba divers, and over time the elements have created caves, overhangs, and swim-throughs in the soft limestone rock.

On the 4th of May 1997 the 85-meter passenger ferry 'King Cruiser' on a routine run to the Phi-Phi Islands made history by straying several miles off course and hitting the Anemone Reef. If the Phuket dive scene had been previously lacking in anything it was a decent ship-wreck for divers to explore. This unplanned addition to Anemone Reef has become one of the most popular dive-sites.
