Tioman / South China Sea

The three main fishing destinations in the southern region of Malaysia are the islands Aur, Pemanggil and Tioman. This latter is the more popular and developed island of the three where you can find accommodation and facilities for all budgets. Tioman is fit for anglers of every level. From Tioman, you can charter a boat or join a group and take a trip to some of the best sports fishing spots in the South China Sea. Black Marlin is the most famous catch in this part of the seas, but you will also find sailfish, yellow tuna, giant trevally, and barracuda.

Redang / South China Sea

From March to October, the northern east coast of Malaysia provides really good angling for both beginner and experienced fishermen. Redang Island is known to be a deep sea fishing paradise. Indeed, there is a drop off called ” The Tongue of the Ocean” where the depth is not far from 1830 m. You will have the chance to catch jacks, snappers, narrowbarred mackerels, sailfish and barracudas. It is very important to remember that Redang and Perhentian Islands waters are part of Marine Park so it is strictly forbidden to fish within these limits, so you must go further offshore before to begin your sports fishing.

Langkawi / Andaman Sea

In the southern Andaman Sea, located 60 nautical miles south west of Langkawi is Pulau Perak (also called Silver Island) is an island made of limestone and granite rock. This area has been known to produce big eye tuna, rainbow runner, striped marlin, giant trevally, and sailfish. Sports fishing trips to Pulau Perak are usually 3 to 4 days duration with liveaboard fishing boats available for charter from Langkawi.

Bali / Indonesia Sea

Whereas the Indonesian Island is mostly know for its culture, its beaches and its party life, it is actually also a good place to go fishing – game fishing and spear fishing.
