The Southwest Myanmar coast has about 800 islands, these form one of the last remaining untouched paradises on earth. This really is the ultimate in tropical paradise exploration. The islands, sparsely populated, are characterised by dense mountainous rainforest and impenetrable jungle. White sipca sand beaches surround these islands and perfect natural bays provide shelter within which Raja Laut can anchor. Diving and snorkeling here is superb, it seems that every island is absolutely untouched, the reefs are perfect with incredible topography, especially on the west side of the islands. Nature is prolific on these islands, on the beaches Macaques (monkeys) and monitor lizards can be seen feeding on crabs at low tide. Amasingly coloured birds fly from the rainforest canopy. Because of the dense forest large mammals are very hard to spot although tracks have been found of the rare Asian rhinoceros and crocodiles have been seen here too. No scientific studies have been carried out in the Southwest Mayanmar islands since before the 20th century so who knows what awaits in the tropical waters and jungles of the Mergui Archipelago.
